Mr.McFall,I a Chinese middle school student,Can you tell me what's the school like in Scotland.And,Do students in there like China?

It’s hard for me to say how school is different – as I don’t know all that much about education in china, but I teach High School in Scotland so I can tell you a bit about that. Pupils study individual subjects so that, when they leave, they don’t have an overall diploma like the American system, but have qualifications in different areas. By the time pupils are 15, they have already begun to specialise according to their interests.
Of course, school is more than just subjects. There is a strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities – sports and music are very common choices for pupils. Students in Scotland are very interested in China, and when I tell them about Ferryman being realised in Chinese they always ask to see it. They don’t have a strong knowledge of the country, though.
因为不太了解中国的教育情况,我可能没法直接回答这个问题,但我可以跟你说说苏格兰的中学教育。苏格兰的学生在中学时就有各自专门的学科,毕业时不是像美国学生那样有综合成绩或学分,而是会取得不同学科的毕业证书。所以,在他们15岁的时候,就已经具备某方面的专业才能了。
当然,学校更注重的是专项技能的培养,但也一直在鼓励学生一专多能的学习态度——苏格兰的学生大多数选择体育或音乐作课外兴趣。他们也都对中国很感兴趣,尽管还没有太深入地了解整个国家,但当我告诉他们《摆渡人》在中国所获得的欢迎时,同学们就立即让我show出中文版呢!
