创意与生活:对话石雕大师钱文彬

编者按

雕塑也称雕刻,是雕、刻、塑三种创制方法的总称。早在旧石器时代,人类文明中就出现了原始石雕、骨雕等。这门相对永久性的造型艺术,通过静态的三维物体及空间形象,以反映社会生活、表达艺术家的审美情感或纪念重大事件和人物等。

本期“创意与生活”要介绍的参展艺术家钱文彬,是内蒙古民间工艺——巴林石微雕的传承人,擅长在“方寸之地”讲述中国传统文化。巴林石因产于巴林右旗得名,与福建的寿山石、浙江的青田石、昌化石并称“四大著名印石”。今天,就让我们通过与他的对话,了解巴林石微雕技艺。

本期人物:钱文彬
钱文彬,出生于内蒙古赤峰市,是石雕大师和高级技师、中国工艺美术学会成员,也是内蒙古民间工艺——巴林石微雕的传承人。

曾连续五年获得中国玉石器“百花奖”金奖。2017年,荣获“天工奖”金奖,天工奖被誉为中国玉界“奥斯卡”。

Bio

Qian Wenbin was born in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, China. He is a master of stone carving, a senior maker, and an outstanding inheritor of Bahrain Stone miniature sculpture, a folk craft of Inner Mongolia.

As a member of the Chinese Arts and Crafts Institute, he has won first prize in the ‘Hundred Flowers Award’ National Competition for Jade and Stone Carving Arts in China for five consecutive years. In 2017 he won a Gold Medal Tiangong Award, considered an ‘Oscars’ event for jade and stone carvers in China.

1.您何时开始从事这项工艺的?为什么?

答:上世纪九十年代初开始的,主要还是被微刻艺术神秘和神奇所吸引。

2.您觉得这项工艺的难点是什么?您做了哪些创新?

答:难就难在能不能有一颗恬淡的心!恬淡的心包括精神层面和物质层面,功利心、名利心太重无法做微刻艺术。传统的微刻艺术大多数只是将文字微刻于石面上,我在这些基础之上将中国传统文化里的书法、绘画、篆刻艺术融汇其中,使作品更具有中国传统文化特色。

3.您作品的最大特点是什么?

答:最大的特点就是用方寸之地承载几千年的国学经典。

4.对巴林石微刻未来的传承和发展您有怎样的看法?

答:举步维艰,我现在连一个徒弟都没有。由于微刻艺术的特殊性,愿意从事这个行业的人极少,就是喜欢微刻艺术的人也是极少能成功的。即使这样我也会砥砺前行,不畏艰辛。

Interview with QIAN Wenbin

1.When and how did you start your career in this field?

Since early 1990s. I was attracted by the mysterious and magnificent art of micro-carving.

2.What are the difficulties of this technique? How did you improve it?

A tranquil mind is essential, from both spiritual and material perspectives. If you are too utilitarian, you would not be fully engaged in micro-carving. Traditional micro-carving technique is usually about carving characters on a stone surface. Basing on this, I integrated Chinese calligraphy, painting and carving into my works, so as to embrace the characteristics of traditional Chinese culture.

3.What is the most stand-out characteristics in your work?

It’s embodying Chinese classics with long history into a tiny object.

4.What is your opinion on inheritance and continuation of this technique?

It's quite difficult. I don't even have an apprentice. Due to the specialty of this technique, very few people are willing to engage in this field, while those who are in favor of it can hardly guarantee a success. Even so, I will still continue this journey undauntedly.

钱文彬的巴林石微雕系列作品“孙子兵法”,将《孙子兵法》的故事刻于巴林石上。这次参展伦敦手工艺周“技艺中国”主题展,他精选了该系列中的6件作品。石雕作品上的微型形象和漂亮的书法雕工,表现了这部旷世兵书的重要篇章。
These intricate pieces are from Qian Wenbin’s The Art of War by Sun Tzu series of Balin Stone miniature sculptures, which is a folk craft from his home of Inner Mongolia, China. Precision technique is required, resulting in these amazingly delicate works. He has selected 6 pieces from this series for 2020 London Craft Week. The tiny carved characters on the stones represent important chapters of this famous book about military tactics, with sharp outlines and beautiful calligraphy.
