Recently, a Chinese drama—The Knockout (狂飙)—went viral on China's social media. Netizens not only immersed in the anti-corruption plot, but also become interested in the retro architecture and living environment in the drama. As the shooting location of The Knockout, Guangdong's Jiangmen has once again come into the sight of global audiences with its unique street scenes and delicious food.

Jiangmen is a well-known hometown of many overseas Chinese. Xu Tai, the chief producer of The Knockout, said Jiangmen not only retains but develops the traditional old western-style buildings well. "As time goes by, the historical background of the story will change and show unique characteristics of different eras. And Jiangmen just can meet these needs."

Changdi Historical and Cultural Block (长堤历史文化街区)

Changdi Historical and Cultural Block is located on the bank of the Pengjiang River, and its history can be traced back to the 14th century. When Jiangmen was opened as a treaty port in 1902, hundreds of arcade buildings were built along the street with Chinese and Western elements.

Since there has not been a large-scale renovation, these arcades have been preserved in their original appearance, which has attracted many film and TV dramas to be shot here, such as The Knockout, Fireflies in the Sun 2, Caught in Time, and Are You Lonesome Tonight.

Beifeng Mountain National Forest Park (北峰山国家森林公园)

Beifeng Mountain National Forest Park is located in the middle of Beifeng Mountain. The park contains a large area of south subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest. Thus, it is praised as "a rare oasis at the southernmost tip of the Pearl River Delta" and "an animal gene bank south to the Tropic of Cancer".

During the filming interval, Zhang Songwen, an actor who played the crime boss in The Knockout, also visited the Beifeng Ancient Temple in the park.

Chuanshan Archipelago (川岛)

The Chuanshan Archipelago is a group of islands in the South China Sea. It is located in Jiangmen's Chuandao Town and consists of two large islands—Shangchuan Island and Xiachuan Island—and some outlying islands. In 2009, it was awarded as China's 4A-level tourist attraction.

Fresh and delicious seafood is another major feature of the Chuanshan Archipelago. The "What you cannot miss when traveling to Jiangmen" is the local seafood feast with wide variety and affordable prices.

An embankment, two cars, and the sea, all these elements constitute the background picture of an important plot in The Knockout, in which the main characters are having a secret conversation at the seaside. Here is Qingshanju in Haiyan Town, Taishan, Jiangmen. The lighthouse in the background is Qingshanju Lighthouse.

The coastline of Qingshanju has a very primitive ecological environment and is very quiet. Sitting on the shore in a daze can give visitors a moment of tranquility.

In The Knockout, the scene where Li Xiang, the representative of justice and the criminal Gao Qisheng fell from the building together, was filmed in the Mei Courtyard.

The Mei Courtyard is located beside the Datong River in Duanfen Town, Taishan, Jiangmen. It was founded in 1931 by local overseas Chinese. There are 108 two-story or three-story buildings with arcades in the courtyard. Row upon row of buildings are arranged in a rectangular shape.

The Mei Courtyard is a representative of large well-preserved overseas Chinese buildings in China. Many films and TV dramas such as "Interim President" and "Let the Bullets Fly" were filmed here. Its unique architectural style has attracted tourists from all around the world.

The pavilion where An Xin, the protagonist, and his girlfriend Meng Yu broke up is located in an artificial lake in Taishan of Jiangmen.

Taicheng Artificial Lake is divided into East Lake, West Lake, and South Lake. On the north shore of West Lake, there are many local restaurants, which are good places for tourists to have an authentic meal and a rest. In summer, lotus will bloom in the lake, forming a beautiful landscape.
