Get ready, cat lovers and history buffs! This summer, Shanghai Museum is hosting a special nocturnal treat that's purr-fect for you and your feline friends.

"On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt" is the blockbuster exhibition for 2024, running from July 18, 2024, to August 17, 2025. With a touch of feline flair sprinkled among the artifacts, "Night at the Museum" invites you to bring your cats along for a cultural experience unlike any other.

Billed as the largest and most prestigious collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts ever showcased globally, this exhibition is a groundbreaking collaboration between a Chinese museum and the Egyptian government. So, grab your kitty and dive into a night filled with history, mystery, and a whole lot of meow-gic.

In partnership with the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, the exhibition features a staggering 492 groups comprising 788 exquisite artifacts from various epochs of ancient Egyptian civilization. Prepare to be awestruck by the grandeur of pharaoh statues – including those of Tutankhamun, Amenemhat III and Ramses II – a complete set of mummy coffins, intricate queen's gold jewelry, and newly discovered painted coffins, animal mummies and statues from the Saqqara region.

These treasures have been meticulously curated from seven major Egyptian museums, including the Egyptian Museum, Luxor Museum and Suez Museum, alongside the latest archeological findings in Saqqara. Remarkably, 95 percent of these artifacts will make their debut in Asia.

Shanghai Museum is pulling out all the stops for this colossal special exhibition, the largest in its history. The museum will undergo a series of renovations and dedicate three exhibition halls on the first floor of its People's Square location to this event. Spanning a total area of 3,000 square meters, the exhibition promises a unique and immersive viewing experience, seamlessly integrating narrative displays, artifact showcases and cutting-edge technological installations.

有史以来全球最大规模、亚洲最高等级的古埃及文物出境展“金字塔之巅：古埃及文明大展”即将登陆上海博物馆，将于2024年7月19日至2025年8月17日在人民广场馆舍举办。

为期一年的展览标志着中国博物馆和埃及政府之间的首次全面合作，本次展览汇集492组788件古埃及文明不同时期的珍贵文物，它们来自七家埃及重点博物馆和萨卡拉地区的最新考古发现，其中超过95%以上的文物为首次来到亚洲，加上展出的中国文物，展览规模将超过800件。

“观众如果在每件文物上停留10秒钟，需要两小时才能看完整个展览；如果在每件文物上停留30秒，需要花6小时才能看完整个展览。”上海博物馆馆长褚晓波在5月20日的展览推介会上说。

此外，褚晓波还透露：此次展览将推出博物馆奇喵夜活动，打破不允许宠物进场的国际惯例，观众将有机会带着宠物猫来看展览，与展厅中的猫神庙、猫雕像互动。
